Nothing beats a great smile. Some studies suggest that the smile is the first thing noticed by nearly 50% of people when they meet someone. One of the primary contributors to a beautiful smile is straight teeth.
But the self confidence straight teeth will give you is not necessarily their only benefit.

This process can be used to address a wide range of aesthetic issues including old discoloured and broken fillings including crooked and crowded teeth.
The advantages of straight teeth.
When your teeth are in the right place, flossing and brushing are made so much easier.
Enhanced function of the teeth
When teeth meet each other correctly, you can bite things effectively and then chew them up effectively and efficiently. This is the first functional step in a healthy digestive system.
Enhanced health and function of the jaws
All teeth meeting at once with the jaw joints placed in a correctly balanced position offers protection to each tooth as well as the jaw joint. The load is evenly spread over all teeth so none take the brunt of the bite force.
Orthodontics covers a wide range of treatments and may involve the young and old alike.
While many claims are made to the contrary these days, orthodontic braces are still the gold standard of treatment. They are the only true way of perfectly aligning the teeth while positioning them correctly against their opposing teeth and ensuring the jaw joints are correctly and healthily positioned.
Orthodontic braces are often combined with Orthodontic Orthopaedic or “Functional” appliances that help to control the growth of the jaws that the teeth are contained within.
Clear aligners claim to be able to straighten teeth – which indeed they can. However, what they can’t do reliably is to place upper teeth correctly against lower teeth with the jaw joint positioned correctly and healthily. Without doing this, their result will always be unstable, the teeth will have lesser function and the jaw joint may be more likely to develop problems in later life. Take a survey yourself. Ring any number of specialist Orthodontists and they will all tell you they can place Clear aligners. But if you question a little further and ask what percentage of their work is completed this way, most will say almost none of it. The only practitioners that have taken this form of treatment up wholeheartedly are general practitioners – often with as little as a couple of weekends training.
If invisible braces are what you’re after, then lingual braces is the only answer. In this technique the brackets are placed on the insider of the teeth. They are a little less efficient than normal braces and thus take slightly longer. They are infinitely more difficult to use correctly and should only be used in the hands of an experienced specialist orthodontist
Porcelain Veneers and Crowns
In most instances, orthodontic straightening is the most ideal treatment for crooked teeth. However, many people do not wish to go through this process, and this is where veneers excel. You can have instant straight teeth in 2 to 4 weeks if you can’t wait for orthodontics.
Porcelain veneers or crowns may also be particularly enticing if the teeth are also misshapen or dark in colour. They may also be needed in conjunction with orthodontic treatment. Sometimes, teeth in an incorrect position may be worn or broken and when the teeth are straightened, the missing and damaged parts or these teeth will need to be replaced.
